Ecovac Services / About Us / |
EcoVac Services has its origins in innovation and creative thinking, persisting through the present. This innovation will continue into the future as we invest in the training of our personnel and creation of an internal treatability study and research & development laboratory.
Over 25 years ago, before the phrases “dual phase extraction” and “multi phase extraction” became part of the industry’s lexicon, company co-founder David M. Goodrich, P.G., developed the mobile dual and multi phase process (1988). This mobile dual and multi phase extraction process was developed out of necessity – major oil companies were demanding cost-effective solutions to their persistent LNAPL sites--sites where fixed systems had failed to reach the objective. David M. Goodrich, P.G., working with a vacuum truck and experimenting with drop tubes, developed the mobile dual and multi phase extraction process, which was subsequently given the acronym EFR® for Enhanced Fluid Recovery. EcoVac Services has since established itself as the world leader and authority in mobile dual and multi phase extraction.
In the late 1990’s, company co-founder Nick Athens drew upon his previous experience in the petroleum exploration/production industry to conceive of a patent pertaining to the chemical augmentation of the mobile dual and multi phase extraction process utilizing surfactants for effective NAPL and DNAPL removal, chemical oxidants to effectively remove dissolved phase VOCs/SVOCs, and cosolvents/ biosolvents for enhanced removal of viscous NAPLs and DNAPLs such as coal tar, creosote, crude oil, and no. 6 fuel oil (bunker fuel). EcoVac Services has transcended into the leading provider of surfactant remediation services in the United States, and a premier provider of chemical oxidation (ISCO) services.
EcoVac Services has invested into its future by establishing a treatability study and research & development laboratory in 2009. The objective of this lab is to advance innovative “treatment train” technologies for in situ removal of viscous LNAPLs and DNAPLs such as coal tar, creosote, crude oil, and no. 6 fuel oil (bunker fuel), as well as other VOC and metals treatment concepts. This laboratory also supports our field projects by comparing and optimizing remedial processes, formulating site-specific surfactants and biosolvents; and optimizing chemical oxidation (ISCO) processes.
EcoVac Services leads the industry in green and sustainable remediation practices. In advance of the 2009 Copenhagen accord and the December 7, 2009 USEPA declaration that CO2 and other greenhouse gases pose a health hazard, we were developing a comparative model that calculates and contrasts the carbon footprint and energy consumption from several common remediation technologies. This model was the first comprehensive model created within the industry and validates that EcoVac Services’ solutions will reduce your carbon footprint and energy consumption by over 75%!
